Fixed Prosthesis
Fixed prostheses, also known as bridges, crowns, and veneers, are prostheses that are applied in the absence of a small number of teeth in the mouth and are prepared in the laboratory by shaping (cutting, reducing) the support teeth and adhered to the teeth. It is more easily accepted by the patient than removable prostheses, but certain conditions must be present for its application. The cleaning of these prostheses is very important for their longevity. Especially all the gingival edges of the support teeth of the prosthesis should be brushed very well. After the preparation of the teeth and measuring, the procedure is completed in 3-4 sessions and in 1 week. There are many types of prosthesis such as metal-supported ceramic (porcelain), metal-free ceramic (porcelain), porcelain laminate. The most suitable solution for your mouth will be determined by your doctor.
Removable Prosthesis
The construction phase of removable prostheses may take 6-7 sessions. Then, the patient's compliance with the prosthesis is in question. In a few weeks, the patient may need to meet with the dentist for the compatibility of the prosthesis.
It depends on the number of removable dentures. It is never bound by the law. It is thought that these prostheses are made in advanced ages and are associated with mourning, but this is related to teeth. The more missing your teeth are, the more removable prosthesis is made. Of course, it is mostly used in the elderly because tooth loss occurs as they get older.
